SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM ASSISTANTS & CREW LEADERS NEEDED
The Workforce Development Board anticipates operating a Summer Youth Employment Program, which will provide an opportunity for youth ages 14 up to 21 to gain valuable paid work experience at worksites developed throughout St. Lawrence County. These positions will be temporary positions beginning towards the end of June and ending in August.
Summer Employment Program
Assistants will be hired to assist employment counselors with orientation, counseling and indirect supervision of youth. The assistants will also assist with resolution of any work-related issues and will ensure that attendance records, employee evaluations and notes are in order. The assistants will travel throughout St. Lawrence County to interact with the worksite supervisors and participants. Mileage is reimbursed at the Federal rate. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license as well as reliable transportation for business use.
Summer Employment Program
Crew Leaders will be placed at one of three locations (Ogdensburg, Brasher Falls, or Massena). Crew Leaders will develop and maintain a good working relationship with the worksite staff while overseeing the work completed by 5-6 youth and ensuring their safety, behavior, and development of good work habits. No travel required/no mileage reimbursement.
Minimum qualifications are completion of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours in a regionally accredited college or possess a high school diploma or its equivalency and two years of full-time paid experience in education, job development, personnel counseling, recruitment and placement or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Both positions pay $22.44/hour for up to a 35-hour work week; there are no benefits offered for these temporary positions.
